The lady
The Avenue was founded in 2012 by Amanda E. Colton, MSW. Amanda has been working with traditional and at-risk youth for over 10 years and has a unique understanding of navigating secondary education. Being home schooled in Central Florida, Amanda gained an appreciation for the importance of individualized attention necessary to foster a successful learning experience.
Amanda attended Susquehanna University on multiple private and public scholarships as a result of her excellent academic performance, community volunteer work, and having already earned college course credits.
While at Susquehanna University, Amanda participated as the student representative to the Admissions Committee for two years, studied abroad, and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business and Bachelors of Arts in Religion. After completing her undergraduate studies, Amanda returned to Central Florida, where she earned her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Central Florida. During her Graduate studies, she focused on at-risk youth, specializing in youth transitioning out of foster care. From 2008 to 2012, Amanda worked directly with at-risk youth, cultivating and facilitating an environment that lead to independent living skills for young adults. Amanda currently works with a University as an Academic Student Advisor, giving her a first-hand experience of the skills necessary to assist a student in reaching his or her goals.
